Origin:Axis is a duo complrised of myself and Christine Cornwell. We focus on use of the voice in different ways, ‘tuning in’, interaction with electronics. The signature aspect of our performance is the X-Y oscilloscope, one axis of which represents one voice. MaasTheatre Rotterdam, 2019.
I was asked to create a programme for undergraduate keyboard players from different disciplines. The programme would teach them collaborative compositional principles and help them to create their own pieces. This would be held over the course of a project week called ‘incubator’. Oliver Vibrans asked me to help prepare orchestral score and parts for his piece ‘more up’ for the BBC Symphony and the Able Orchestra. I provided graphics for use by the electronic musicians which followed Ollie’s ideas. I edited and produced a score and set of parts for the first performance.
I was looking through some (rather rubbish) old school songs during my residency at Eton College and found this rather nice tune written in the late 19th Century. I arranged/orchestrated it for easy orchestral performance.
