Choir of any size. Part of Operadagen/Tent Rotterdam.
Now a score, but originally a project of improvised singing with the Tarwewijk Choir.
I started the Tarwewijk choir to explore different ways of co-composing improvised vocal music. The first public performance of our plainsong-based piece ‘Te Lucis’ was part of ‘Scores for Rotterdam’; a project by Mercedes Azpilicueta and John Bingham-Hall which sought to bring aural attention to forgotten spaces in the city. This performance was the Tarwewijk choir’s compositional response to the Mevlanaplein Railway overpass and was performed as part of a public intervention there. The event also included a public workshop/realisation of a score by John Bingham-Hall with the Groene Connectie, a green-spaces initiative in Rotterdam.

I subsequently created a graphical score of the piece which open up the possibility of performance by other groups. The premiere of the score-based version was held in Eton College Chapel in 2021 at Compline.
